About
BETWEEN STATIONS consists of 14 intricately layered collages made from samples and loops of found and created sounds and music. Many of the samples were collected on and under the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
The collages were created especially for recording onto the salvaged cassette tape that’s used in the weaving of SONIC FABRIC, an audible (!), durable, versatile textile. The tracks on BETWEEN STATIONS are themselves, quite literally, a fabric of sound…they weave in and out of one another, and are intended to be heard as one seamless piece
The BETWEEN STATIONS CD comes in a limited-edition, one-of-a-kind (no two exactly alike) SONIC FABRIC sleeve.
On youtube channel “alyceobvious”:http://www.youtube.com/user/alyceobvious you will find instructions on how to make your own sonic fabric “reader” out of an old portable tape player, as well as other short videos of sonic fabric in action…including Jon Fishman, Phish percussionist, who wore and “played” a dress made of SONIC FABRIC on stage in 2004.
