About
The Micropolis collection is sculpture and architecture on a miniature scale. Made in very small runs by the designer himself, each individual piece is manually machined, hand finished, and then signed and dated by Brandon Perhacs. Constructed from stainless steel, rare earth magnets and Paperstone, a composite of recycled paper and non petroleum water based resin. Micropolis is an interactive system of jewelry that allows wearers to participate in the creative process.
The Micropolis esthetic merges the forms of contemporary architecture and everyday objects creating a playful dialogue between the two. The individual lines within the Micropolis collection are named after classical Greek city-states, whose sense of wholeness was reflected in their architecture and art.
The inset magnets enable multiple configurations of each Micropolis piece . Their functional pattern is seamlessly integrated into the design.
The combinations begin to grow exponentially when independent modules are added to these configurations. Each design is also available as an independent module. These modules can be combined with the necklaces and earrings to create design variations.
KNOSSOS.2 MODULE
The Knossos.2 Module is hand machined from PaperStone and inlaid with small stainless steel “jewels”. These “jewels” have been hand polished and beveled to reflect the light. Each module is inlaid with magnets on four sides, allowing various designs when used with the necklaces or earrings. All work is all done by the designer, Brandon Perhacs, in his studio on Bainbridge Island.
